Here’s one thing that I miss. And end up writing about it… here it goes. I am sorry if I have to elaborate on things, I just can’t help it.
I learned chess when I was 9 years old and my mentors were my cousins. We were raised up hooked with chess. With uncles, cousins and relatives that are undeniably good with it, I was pressured to come up to the hidden expectations. I must admit I was struggling when playing with them. However, I also excelled, and even won the District Meet during my elementary years and qualified for the Provincial Meet. Oh and don’t ask me about SMARAA because I never made it, left only in the fourth place.
Now, here in Davao, with certainly no one to play with, I just miss the feeling of pressure and excitement brought about by playing chess.
Just saying…
